Recent International Board decision - June 2012

Motion 6 – Eliminate State, Provincial, Commonwealth and Territorial Councils and move Regional Conferences to be held between September 1 and December 1 each year or in conjunction and onsite with the International Convention.

Reason: Due to decreasing membership and the economic impact this will reduce the number of meetings, conferences and conventions we ask our members to support. It will also eliminate the necessity of local associations and state councils hosting meetings where attendance is declining. Elimination of the Council Meetings and moving the Regional Conferences to the fall, or in conjunction with our International Convention, will increase attendance at both meetings.

It will reduce the number of layers for administrative activities of the association and encourage more members to be involved and will streamline our leadership footprint.

Effective: January 1, 2014

AS OF AUGUST 2012, NATIONAL HAS DECIDED THAT EACH COUNCIL CAN CONTINUE AS THEY WISH ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS.  UPDATE FROM THE SEPTEMBER 2012 CALIFORNIA COUNCIL MEETING - A COMMITTEE HAS BEEN FORMED TO EXPLORE THE FUTURE OF THE CALIFORNIA COUNCIL.  THE CHAIRMAN IS SUE ZEIDER.
